Update on New Postal Facility
Plans continue to be discussed for the Pontiac postal facility.
I
was on vacation for this meeting, however I would like to update the
Royal Oak Branch on the new facility based on the minutes that I
received.
At the New
Facility Meeting that was held on July 13, 2006, Acting District
Manager Kelly Sigmon informed the group that the "draft" copy of the
Operations System Layout (OSL) will be made available at the August 22,
2006 meeting. The Operation System Layot is the workroom floor
layout. Kelly Sigmon stated that she would incorporate into the next
video the OSL so the employees would know what to expect in the
building.
There was
an update of the Activation Team meeting for the project given by Matt
Bartolone. It was stated that when the Board of Governors approved the
new facility that the Postal Service must follow a plan that lists over
500 line items that must be followed (such as moving machines from the
old facility to the new facility). There must be an update of the
Activation Team's progress at each meeting.
There
was an "Information Sharing" DVD that was given to the group attending
the meeting. Some of the highlights of the DVD are:
Information Centers have been established in each of the Royal Oak P & DC, Detroit P & DC, and Flint P & DC.
Name the Plant Contest
Timeline for the construction (building completed in 5/2008)
It
stated that the Name the Plant Contest would be extended until August
18, 2006. There will be a committee of Labor and Management to select
the winner of the contest. The winner will receive a $300.00 American
Express gift certificate.
Ther
was a NPMHU request for information submitted to management. The Union
has not received a reply from management. However, after the meeting
the Great Lakes Area Manager contacted Local 307 and stated that the
Local would recieve some of the information but that the majority of
the information requested would have to be provided to the Union after
the Area Mail Processing Sutdy (AMP) was completed. The AMP study will
take six (6) months to complete.
The next meeting will be on August 22, 2006 at 1:00 PM.
